Hi. I’m a journalist who also draws. I think I’m the only full-time nonfiction longform cartoonist (phew) living in Washington D.C. Call them whatever you like, but they’re true stories about real people, drawn into comics. I also write normal text articles and draw illustrations.
I'm occasionally available for freelance work. If you would like to hire me to write and/or draw for you, please reach out. Lately I’ve been writing/drawing about cities, cheese, comics, and other things that do not start with “c.” Here’s a little more.
I have lived in D.C. for over a decade, mostly in northeast with my wife and our cats. I was a 2017 Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan. I write the occasional nonfiction comics newsletter, The CoJo List. I also created and edited the nonfiction comics anthology The Cartoon Picayune.
